Comfortel De Champ combines eco-friendly renewable energy sources with optimal guest comfort!

How do we achieve that?

On the South-side of our roof we have a number of solar panels that are operated with an automatic sun tracker for optimal power output. This energy goes to our intelligent inverter system that brings "normal" 220 Volt electricity to the guest rooms.
All electric appliances are run on alternative, "green" energy apart from the air conditioning. That runs on electricity from the public grid (Dominica's electricity company is called Domlec).

If we have a few days with little sun and much electricity consumption, then the batteries might run low. Our inverter will automatically switch to Domlec power so our guests can continue to use all the appliances.

Phase 2 of our sustainable energy project will be the installation of a small wind turbine. That will allow us to generate electricity 24 hours a day and especially when the sun is not shining. Again, our intelligent inverter will control the flow and storage of the electricity giving our guests maximum comfort.

Being eco-friendly and because Dominica has no acid rain we capture the rain water from our roof. This water is purified by a set of sophistaced special filters and re-used.
A part of that water is pumped to the solar water heater on our west-side roof giving hot water in all the showers and the face bassins of the guest rooms. If ever there would not be enough sun, then the water will be heated by the build in electrical booster.
Cold water is also sent to the rooms for showers and face bassins AND to the special little tap for drinking water. Those taps have an extra carbon filter installed to take out even the smallest particles and all chemicals so you will have great tasting fresh drinking water.
In case of more consumption then our storage capacity we also have the public water company Dowasco connected to our water system.
Eco-friendly is fine but optimal comfort for our guests is our most important concern.
